Crystal Lake Gilmanton Iron Works, NH
These photographs are from my favorite walk in Gilmanton Iron Works. They are all taken from Pine Circle. You arrive there by taking route 140 to Crystal Lake Road to Pine Circle. Please note there is no place to park your car on Pine Circle you will need to park on Crystal Lake Road to walk this beautiful little circle about 1 mile total walk. I have walked this road in all seasons and it is truly beautiful all year. I have included some of my favorites photos. The first picture is, to me, magnificent because of the sky. Yes, we can thank Covid-19 for the beautiful clear blue sky. Please come and see us before the traffic and industry blurs the picture once again. This little lake “Crystal” is set among the pine trees so we do have cleaner air than a lot of places and I say thank you with each walk down this quiet little piece of peace. The picture of the water with the ice was taken just a day before there was total ice out on the lake and the blueness of the water contrasted with the white of the ice was striking to me, which of course meant, I had to take a photo. The last photo was taken when, on May 9 2020, after ice out, we had a measurable snow storm here in Gilmanton Iron Works. This was one of the latest days in history for a measurable snow storm. The contrast between the snow covered mountains and the open water in early spring was something that my husband and I had to stop and marvel at. If it takes my breath away than I must take a photo of it and share it with others who might have a moment of peace by gazing at the same scene.
I have many more photos of this walk which I will be sharing with everyone shortly. Please check in again as I will be posting more of this lovely 1 mile walk. The best part of the walk is nearing the half way point where you come close to the “point” and you have the river section on one side and main body of the lake with the mountain view as a back drop on the the other side. Please come walk this beautiful road and remember what camping and vacationing used to be like at these small lakes in NH. If you take this walk on a hot day and you want to take a swim there is a public beach which you probably noticed on the way down Crystal Lake Road, right where the baseball field is. Pull in, park your car and go for a swim at the town beach. If you have built up a hunger and you forgot to pack your own lunch just stop at the Iron Works Market, great Pizza, Burgers and chicken. Enjoy your walk, enjoy your day, at the beautiful, somewhat rural Crystal Lake in the southern lake district of NH.
PS bring your camera for your personal photos of this beautiful, peaceful area.
